Accelerated Residency

The Accelerated Residency is a unique opportunity to engage deeply with the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad and learn alongside colleagues. During this intensive three-day residency, you will attend all six of the workshops that make up the Professional Certification Program. By the end of the residency, you will have the foundation and resources needed to complete the program assignments when you return home.

Workshop Schedule

All workshops will be held at the UIC Student Center East Building, Room 301.

Below is a tentative schedule for the Summer Accelerated Residency. Please note that the order of these workshops may change due to conditions beyond The Forum’s control.

Monday

8 a.m. - 12 p.m. — Introduction to the Standards of Good Practice in Education Abroad
1 p.m. - 5 p.m. — Designing Education Abroad Using The Standards of Good Practice

Tuesday

8 a.m. - 12 p.m. — Managing Education Abroad: Program Implementation to Evaluation
1 p.m. - 5 p.m. — Health, Safety and Well-Being

Wednesday

8 a.m. - 12 p.m. — Student Learning & Development I: Advising & Orientations
1 p.m. - 5 p.m. — Student Learning & Development II: Reflection, Integration & Assessment

Program Cost

Enrollment in the Accelerated Residency program includes the cost of Professional Certification in Education Abroad.

Attendees are responsible for travel, accommodation, and meals beyond the program agenda. Please review the cancellation and refund policy at the bottom of this page.

The enrollment fee includes:

Six Professional Certification in person workshops.
Online learning management system with comprehensive resources, tips, and assignment uploads.
Timely and helpful feedback from Certified Professionals trained to assess and certify the participant’s knowledge and application of the Standards of Good Practice.
Lunch for each full day of the Accelerated Residency.

On successful completion of the program, participants receive:

Seven digital badges for successful completion of each module and culminating project.
Recognition on The Forum’s website and at The Forum’s Annual and European Conferences
Access to use The Forum’s “Certified Professional” mark on resumes, curricula vitae, email signatures, business cards, letterhead and websites.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

For this event, the cancellation period is as follows:

On or before March 25, 2025: 90% refund of the original purchase amount
March 26, 2025- April 24, 2025: 50% refund of the original purchase amount
After April 25, 2025: No refund available

The following hotels are in close proximity to where all workshops will take place. Participants are are required to make their own hotel arrangements and are free to book hotels not recommended below.
