Eduardo (Eddie) Contreras, Ed.D.

Eduardo´s bio

Eduardo Contreras is the Vice Provost for Global Engagement at Baylor University, where he is the senior international officer. He also served as SIO and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Portland. He has over two-decades of experience advocating and advancing internationalization and inclusion in higher education. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Forum on Education abroad and faculty co-chair for the Harvard Management Development Program.

Neal McKinney

Neal´s bio

Neal has over 10 years of higher education experience and expertise as a scholar/practitioner focused on the educational success of historically minoritized students (e.g. Students of Color, international students, first-generation students). He is a thought leader in education abroad using critical theories on race (e.g., critical race theory, intersectionality, critical whiteness studies) to disrupt global systems of white supremacy.
Neal has his Bachelor’s degree in Communication from DePauw University and his Master’s degree of Education in Higher Education from The University of Maryland, College Park and a PhD in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University.

Christina Broderick-Royes, LSW

CHRISTINa's bio

Christina is an activator. A futurist and visionary leader. She has a passion for prioritizing mental health well-being and is a clinically-trained licensed social worker, a certified school social worker, a former psychotherapist, and an adjunct professor. 
Christina founded her company, Intention Elevation, to provide a proactive, foundational approach to organizations looking to transform the way they tackle mental health. She has served thousands internationally on their mental health journey, including hundreds of EOF and TRIO students. Christina has been featured on numerous podcasts and magazine articles, including Thrive Global, and lead mental health conversations with to expand the integrative, transformative work to support historically marginalized communities. Christina is also a published author in the book, ‘Where Social Work Can Lead You’. 
Christina has her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from La Salle University and her Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston University.

Kenya Casey
Deputy Chief Operations Officer, The Task Force for Global Health

Kenya's Bio ​

Kenya Casey currently serves as the Deputy Chief Operations Officer at The Task Force for Global Health. She was recently the Director of Global Safety and Security at Emory University focusing on fortifying support for the health, safety, and security of Emory students and employees during international travel. With a dedicated emphasis on community building, breaking silos, and implementation of best practices, she leads university-wide initiatives to enhance guidance and assistance throughout the entire travel process, from pre-departure to return.
She is the former senior associate director of Overseas Operations at The Carter Center Health Programs, where she managed daily operations at The Carter Center headquarters, overseeing five program areas and eleven field offices.
Kenya holds a B.A. in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University and a Master's degree in social work from Howard University. 

Joy Phaphouvaninh
Director of Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.​

Joy´s bio​

Joy is the Director of Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Where she is also an adjunct lecturer in the School of Social Work where she teaches a global service-learning course on refugee and immigrant social services in Urbana-Champaign and Athens, Greece.
A lifelong learner, she is pursuing her PhD in Educational Policy, Organization, and Leadership with concentrations in Human Resources Development and Global Studies in Education.  She also holds a bachelor's degree from Kenyon College and a master's degree from the School for International Training Graduate Institute.

Course Fee: $375
Time: Participants will have access to complete the course and all materials for 60 days.
Technology Requirements: This course includes video and audio content. Participants will be given access to º«¹úÈý¼¶Æ¬Canvas platform. Participants are recommended to complete all submitted assignments in word or PDF for upload.
Course Access: Participants will be enrolled in the course on the 1st or 15th of the month, or the next business day, whichever comes first following registration.
